As a Mechanical Engineer at InMotion, your tasks will vary a lot. These responsibilities vary from the cooling of the powertrain to garage operations, but also mechanical work at the track. There will be different functions within the group of Mechanical Engineers, but you will definitely work as a team. These functions can include for example being the Race Engineer, in other words, the bridge between the driver Performance Engineer, where you would be responsible to set up the car correctly. As a mechanical engineer, you also have to work on improving the car for the next years.
Day in the life of our Mechanical Engineer Koen Jacobs:
A typical day for a Mechanical Engineer at InMotion always starts with a daily standup, where I discuss with the team what my goals are for the day, and if I need any help with them. For me, a successful day comes down to reaching my goals that I set in the daily standup in the morning, this really gives me a good feeling. I work closely with the other mechanical engineers because most times it is a two-person job at least. I also work closely with the electronic engineers on combined issues, and the project planner, to see if there is anything that needs to be finished in the short term. Next to that, I am also responsible for the logistics of the team, so I am often busy with a lot of different things, which is really nice!
The team of mechanical engineers consists of three people, with whom I closely work on a variety of different things, and we can always rely on each other to do the best job possible. We can also have a great laugh together, which is very important as well. We always connect really well and we complement each other with our different qualities and knowledge.
